Lifeline / Link-Up Assistance Service

New Paris Telephone Company offers Lifeline Assistance to eligible customers.  Lifeline Assistance provides eligible residential customers with a $9.25 discount on monthly local phone service or broadband internet service when selecting a speed package of 10/1 or greater.  Exceptions may apply to the speed package, please contact New Paris Telephone Company to inquire.  Lifeline Assistance is available to all residential customers who meet the following requirements:

  • Customers, their dependents, or their household must be participants in one of the following programs:  Medicaid, SNAP, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), federal public housing assistance (Section 8) or the Veteran’s or Survivor’s Pension Benefit.
  • In addition, a customer may be eligible if his or her household income is at or below 135% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines.

To apply for Lifeline Assistance, please contact our office at (574) 831-2176.  Application forms for Lifeline Assistance are available in our office.  Lifeline customers must annually recertify their continued eligibility by the anniversary of their service initiation date.

Federal Tax

Goes to: Repealed by the Supreme Court after 98 years. NPT collected Federal Excise Tax on all telecommunications services provided to customers. This tax was originally imposed to fund the Spanish American War of 1898. The war lasted 6 months. The tax lasted 108 years.

Telephone Service for the hard of hearing and deaf

Relay Indiana provides full telephone accessibility for people who are deaf, hard of hearing or speech impaired. Relay Indiana processes over 1 million calls every year and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Specially trained Communication Assistants connect the call and remain on the line to assist in the conversation.
